Caring for Your Outdoor Furniture

To keep your furniture looking great and lasting longer, regular care is essential.

Cleaning & Material Care

  • Upholstered Fabric & Cushions: For removable covers, machine wash on a cold cycle, dry inside out until damp, then put them back on while still damp to maintain their shape. For non-removable covers, spot clean with mild soapy water. Avoid pressure washing.
  • Metal Frames: Wipe off moisture regularly and rinse with fresh water in coastal areas to prevent rust. Touch up any scratches with rust-inhibiting paint.
  • Teak: Clean after three months with a damp cloth and apply Golden Care Teak Shield or an equivalent tested product every three months.
  • Rattan: Brush off dirt and wipe with a damp cloth. Prolonged sun exposure may cause fading.
  • Outdoor Wicker: Wash with water and a soft brush to remove dirt and salt buildup.

Covering & Storage

When not in use, store cushions in a dry place. If storage is limited, keep cushions on their side to allow any moisture to drain off, or use a breathable storage bag to protect them while allowing airflow. Quick-dry foam is used in the seats and backs, but constant moisture exposure can lead to mildew buildup. If you can’t store furniture, use breathable covers (avoid plastic) to prevent condensation buildup. For added protection, move furniture under cover (a patio, garage, or shed) to reduce exposure to frost and heavy rain.

Built to Last

With regular care, your outdoor furniture will look beautiful and perform at its best for years to come.
